Since the blog title is 'Faith Hope Love' I thought this would be a good first topic. So why did I name the blog 'Faith Hope Love'? Well I felt like it...and it sounded cool. Actually to tell you the truth I really don't know why. It just sorta fits. So I am using it.

What is love? So to answer that question I think I should go get my Bible, so just a sec...Okay so I have my Bible now. lol. So, since 1 Corinthians 13 is the love chapter I will look there first :)

First of all love is important. Out of faith, love, and hope, love tops the list. (1 Corinthians 13:13) The love chapter in First Corinthians written by Paul starts out by saying, "If I do not have love, I am only a noisy bell." Well who wants to be only a noisy bell? 1 Corinthians 13:2b says, " If I do not have love I am nothing."
Well then, what is love? I love the pizza I got to eat last night! But there were left overs I threw away...I love my family! I love my little doggy! Well how can I say I love all these things? What is the kind of love that the Bible talks about?

Ancient Greek has four different words for love: agápe, éros, philía, and storgē. Agápe love is love of a deeper sense. It is the kind talked about in 1 Corinthians 13. Where as éros is a romantic type of love. Philía means friendship, and storgē means affection. So agape love is the Biblical kind of love.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-6 says, "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not get upset with others. Love does not count up wrongs that have been done. Love takes no pleasure in evil but rejoices over the truth. Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always endures." While 1 John 4:8 says, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
